Feeling nervous about your first massage visit is normal. A flutter in the stomach before you meet someone new is part of the anticipation. It is not a sign that you should not come, and it is not something you need to hide when you arrive.
Most nerves come from two places. The first is not knowing what will happen, and our step-by-step guide to a first visit covers that. This piece covers the second: the private worries people rarely say out loud.
You can stop at any point, and you can leave without paying if the ladies do not suit you. Keep that in mind and most of the worries below get smaller.
“I will not know what to say”
You do not need to. Tell the receptionist it is your first time. You do not even need to book: you are welcome to call in, see who is working and decide then.
The photographs on our ladies page are real, so you already know who you will meet. When you meet the ladies, a hello is enough. Nobody expects charm, confidence or a line you have rehearsed.
“They will judge my body”
This worry can be about weight, age, scars or shyness. Adults come in every shape and age, and so do the people who walk through our door. The point of the visit is that you feel comfortable in your own skin, and wanted in it.
If there is something you would rather the lady knew in advance, such as an injury or a sore shoulder, say so. If you are self-conscious, you can say that too. She will take it in the spirit you mean it.
“What if I cannot relax?”
It is normal not to relax straight away. Nerves usually ease once you know what happens next.
A few things help. Use the en-suite shower before you start, because it gives you a few minutes to settle. Lie back and let the low light and the quiet do their work. Breathe out slowly a couple of times. Say that you are nervous, because naming it takes some of the pressure off.
Most people find that the moment they stop trying to relax is the moment they do.
“What if I change my mind?”
Then you change your mind. You can meet the ladies and leave without paying. We do not charge a fee if the ladies do not suit you.
Once your session has started, you can still ask to pause or stop at any time, and so can she.
“Someone might see me”
This is the most practical worry, so here are the practical facts.
- You are not on show. Ladybirds sits among the shops and houses of Northenden village, so people come and go on Palatine Road all day.
- The rooms are private. Each of our three guest rooms has its own en-suite shower.
- There is a discreet rear entrance off Mill Lane, open from 10:30am until 7pm. The location page has a short video of the route, so you can see it before you use it.
- Payment is in cash, so nothing appears on a card statement.
- Parking is on the side streets nearby, or on a short parking strip for shoppers.
“Am I too old, or have I left it too long?”
You need to be over 18. You do not need to explain why you are visiting, or why now.
When nerves are about something bigger
Sometimes nerves are not really about the visit. Persistent anxiety, low mood or a health worry need your GP. A visit is not a substitute. Being looked after for an hour can feel good, but it is not treatment.
Quick answers
Should I tell them it is my first time?
Yes. It is the most useful thing you can say.
Can I have a short session to start with?
Yes. Sessions start at 15 minutes, which can be a comfortable first step.
Can I stop at any time?
Yes, always. So can the lady you are with.
Do I have to talk during the session?
No. Some people chat, some prefer quiet. Either is fine.
